MOROCCO: Day Six - So Close to UNESCO

After breakfast, begin the one hour 4x4 expedition to the National Reserve of Talassemtane National Park.  This location is currently being considered as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the rare endemic species of fir trees.  Moroccan Fir is unique only in this particular place.

Hike with New Friends

The Talassemtane National Park is protecting the last fir forest in Morocco.  Elsewhere in Morocco, fir trees have been cut down and used for a variety of things.  Years ago Moroccans decided they needed to protect the last forest for future generations to enjoy.  The park provides an example of true Morocco flora and fauna.

The park is a stretch of Moroccan fir forests that provide home to more than 40 different species of birds such as black kite, ring necked duck, booted eagle, grey wag tail and the Atlas Pied Flycatcher among others.
